IMPHAL, Aug 23: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has appealed to the people of Manipur to stand by the BRO to enable it to repair the road in the given time frame, while pledging that the organization is honor bound to make the NH-53 trafficable at the earliest possible time in order to mitigate the problems faced by the people of Manipur.
In a press release the BRO recalled that a high level team led by AE Ahmed, the secretary of Border Management visited the state on July 31 and urged the BRO to take up immediate repairs on the NH-53. Following this the HQ 765 BRTF has been asked to relocate itself from Churachandpur to Uchchathal in Jiribam by August 31.
It also said that a series of repair and maintenance work is being undertaken on the road from Nungba till Kaimai and a large number of vehicles including earth movers, roads rollers, and load carriers have been inducted into the road sector. Four dozers, five JCBs and three Poklains apart from 14 tippers have also been placed at critical junctions to recover broken down vehicles. Repairs of vary bad patches are also being undertaken on priority basis to restore the trafficability of the highway, the release said while adding that the work had been hampered by the monsoon rains, but will be resumed in full pace after the rains.
