IMPHAL, August 25: Security forces arrested eight militant belonging to different militant groups in separate counter insurgency operations launched in different part of the state.
A statement of the PRO IGAR (S) said discovering the presence of UG cadres in the general area of Singjamei, Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak and Wangkhei Thongkhong, troops of 28 AR and 12 Maratha Light Infantry of 9 sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched a joint operation in the said area and arrested one cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (VC) at around 3pm yesterday and two PREPAK (GS) at around 11:35 am today.
The individual have been identified as one Shantham Rome Singh, 28, s/o Sh. Achou Singh of Shekmeijin Thongjan (PREPAK VC). Maibam Shivananda alias Taj Singh, 30, s/o M. Tombi Singh of Wangkhei Maihoubam Lampak and Loukrakpam Docha alias Nanda Kumar Meitei, 31, s/o L. Diramangol Meitei of Wangkhei Ayangpalli Thongkhong (PREPAK GS).
One US carbine with magazine, one 9 mm pistol, one AK-47, one Lethode gun, three magazine of AK-47, 165 live rounds of AK-47 were recovered from Rome while one .32 pistol with magazine and one live rounds and one Chinese grenade were recovered from the PREPAK GS cadres, said the statement.
In yet another operation, troops of 28 AR arrested one cadre of the proscribed KCP (Nando) group while conducting operation in the general area of Lilong around 9:30 pm on August 24. The arrested militant was identified to be one Md. Riyajuddin alias Lebocha, 30, s/o (L) Md Rahimuddin of Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai.
Troops of AR located at Thoubal of 9 sector under HQ IGAR (S) also arrested one cadre of the proscribed PREPAK on August 23 at about 11:30 am from general area of Kakching Bazar. The militant has been identified as one Puyam Inaocha alias Roch, 25, s/o P Ningthemton of Langathel Leikhom Bazar (army No.32569). One Chinese hand grenade and one 9 mm pistol along with magazine containing four live ammunitions were recovered from his possession. The arrested individual along with the recovered items were handed over to Kakching police on August 24.
The PRO statement further stated that troops of AR located at Ukhrul of 10 sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in general area Phungcham road junction, View land and apprehended one NNW (PSG) cadre and one NSCN-IM cadre at around 11:pm on August 24. The individual were identified as one Yaokhaiek (NNW(PSG), 30, s/o Risincson of Tuinem Village, Ukhrul and AS Jacob (NSCN-IM), 58, s/o Mahesing of Tangkhul Hundung village, Ukhrul.
One country made pistol, four live ammunitions of 9 mm pistol, one grenade, five magazine, 500 kgs of Ganja and Mahindra Jeep registration no.NL05-1532 were recovered from the individuals. They have been handed over to Porompat police station, added the statement.
Another statement issued by the SSP Thoubal district police said a combined team of the Thoubal police commandos and 21 AR arrested one KCP (KK Nganba group) while conducting frisking and checking duty at Kakching Khunou. The arrested militant has been identified as one Gangaram Lakandi of Serou Part-II at about 6:30 pm.
