IMPHAL, Aug 18: In the ongoing efforts of 21 Assam Rifles with an objective of ushering an era of peace amongst the locals of Manipur, the 64th Independence Day was celebrated at Sekmaijin Khunou village of Thoubal district after a long gap of almost 15 years with the help of 21 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
The national flag was hoisted on the occasion by Rajni Devi, Pradhan of Hiyanglam followed by national anthem by the villagers distribution of sweets. A gathering of about 150 locals including ladies and children of the area came out and attended the celebration. Maj Raj Abhinav thanked the local masses for coming out to celebrate the occasion and sow the seed of patriotism amongst their wards which will go a far way in strengthening our nation. Sweets were distributed at the end of the programme.
There was overwhelming response from the local masses who came all the way to actively participate in the Independence Day celebrations. Pradhans and locals of Sekmaijin Khunou, Wabagai and Hiyanglam villages appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in ushering an era of peace in the area.
