MPHAL, Aug 17: The 28th Assam Rifles, Lilong Post under the aegis of 9 sector Hqs IGAR(South) organised a colorful Independence Day celebration at Arapti Junior High School, Lilong with the Company Commander of Lilong post hoisting the National Flag.
A statement issued by the 28 AR officials said that this is the first time after 21 years that the National tricolour was unfurled in the area. The last Independence Day celebration was witnessed by the locals way back in 1989. A wide variety of cultural programmes, games and sports, and literary competitions were the enthralling highlights of the day. The event also provided a platform to showcase the exceptional potentials and talents of the children. The meritorious students in different streams were awarded prizes. The courageous and enthusiastic response of the villagers made the Independence Day celebration a great success.
