IMPHAL, Aug 22: The Transporters’ and Drivers’ Council of Manipur (TDCM) has alleged that the depot manager of IOC Imphal Division has created an artificial scarcity of petroleum products in the state by not sending the oil tankers and LPG bullets on the NH-53.
A release of the TDCM stated that the depot manager of IOC Imphal Division is sending the tankers and bullets on the NH-39 for ferrying petroleum products but all of them have been stranded at Dimapur for many days due to the landslides near Kohima. The scarcity of petroleum products in the state could have been solved if the IOC manager had sent the tankers and bullets on the NH-53 instead of NH-39, it said.
Many freight trucks have arrived Imphal on the NH-53 today and many more trucks would also arrive within a few more days. The wrong decision of the IOC has added fuel to the miseries of the people of the state and deserves condemnation from all sections of the society, the release stated.
It also condemned the burning down of two trucks by some armed miscreants near Tupul and appealed to the concerned authority to strengthen security measures along the vulnerable national highways.
