IMPHAL, Aug 17: The Inclusive Women’s Forum for Social Change will be organizing a rally with public meeting on August 18 with the aim of addressing the various issues of hardship and lack of essential commodities in the state arising out of the present political turmoil in the state.
According to a release of the forum the rally will start from Heirok Lamkhai, Wangjing. The Inclusive Women’s Forum for Social Change is a forum of women in Thoubal district including women activists, women representatives from civil society organisations and individuals and was initiated recently on July 12.
Blaming the political unrest in the state for the hardships faced by the people it has further asserted that though the 66-days long economic blockade called on the National highways passing through the state, by the Naga student groups, had been suspended, essential commodities are not easily available to the people or are available at high prices.
It has further stated that rights of being a citizenship which are enshrined in UDHR, Constitution of India are violated in different forms including violence against women and children in the district as well as in the state.
The forum has further sought solidarity, support and cooperation from the public for the August 18 rally, added the release.
