Chandel, Aug 24: A mass silent protest rally was jointly organised today at Chandel District head quarter by the Anal Naga Students Union, Chandel, Chiefs’ Association Chakpikarong and Anal Sinnu Ruwl (Womens Union) Chakpikarong, to mark a protest against the failure of the state government to suspend SDO/ BDO Chakpikarong Sub-division Lalramsang Infimate as demanded earlier by the ANSU.
The mass rally today at Chandel District head quarter started from Indoor Studium and more than 700 public, students and women folks and village chiefs from Chakpikarong sub-division participated in the rally by holding placards and festoons carrying slogans like ‘We want immediate suspension of irresponsible SDO Chakpikarong’, ‘Public money is not for SDO purse’, ‘Let the rule of law prevail’, ‘SDO office is not for self business’, ‘No transfer no peace’ etc.
The rally covered the areas of Japhou Bazar, Traffic point and finally converged to the DC Office where the representatives of ANSUC, chief association and women leaders submitted their memorandum to the chief minister through DC Chandel, H Deelip Singh around 12.45 this afternoon.
In the meantime, the memorandum submitted to the chief minister through DC Chandel today mentioned that the ANSUC, Chiefs Association Chakpikarong and Womens Union Chakpikarong have jointly submitted their memorandum on July 24 to Chief Secretary Manipur for the suspension of the SDO/BDO Chakpikarong sub-division Lalramsang Infimate on his serious dereliction of his dutiy.
The memorandum further mentioned that as a result of his irregularities in attending office, all the centre and state sponsored schemes and funds implementation were hindered. It is also charged that SDO/BDO Chakpikarong had dishonoured the National duty by not observing Independence Day since last year. The National flag has never been hoisted since his posting in Chakpikarong.
The memoradum further mentioned that the present SDO Chakpikarong is a corrupt person. His way of deducting 3 percent of the Material Component under MGNERGS sanctioned on December last year is totally against the centre’s provision for alleviating the backward areas. Besides various certificates meant to be issued from his office were sold for Rs. 20 at shops bearing his signature.
The memoradum also mentioned that over and above the house listing and house Census 2011 is a failure in Chakpikarong because of his irregularities and lack of coordination with his staff, and the joint organisation has strongly reacted against his artificial style of functioning in public office demanding his immediate suspension by the state government.
The joint memorandum was signed by Pashel Isreal, President of the ANSU, Chandel, HL Thungam, President Chiefs Association Chakpikarong and St Hringlum president Sunnu Ruwal, Chakpikarong.
Follwoing the submission of the memorandum the participants have dispersed themselves from DC office Chandel district head quarter this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the organising committee of today’s public rally at Chandel district headquarter shortly after the rally this afternoon briefed the media persons on the recent act of threat to some of the representatives of the Chiefs Association, Chakpikarong through SMS using threatening words. Such intolerance and irresponsible acts from a responsible officer can never be accepted in the future, they added.
