IMPHAL, Aug 27: Ten out of the 11 UNLF cadres arrested at Guwahati by a combined team of Central forces and Assam Police on August 19 have been brought back to Imphal.
Seven of the arrested militants were brought back to Imphal yesterday by air while two women cadres and a male cadre of the outfit were brought back to Imphal today by a team of Imphal West police commandos.
Tridip Nath, hailing from Assam, who was also arrested along with the UNLF cadres at Guwahati has been released by the Assam Police, according to a source.
Those brought back today include two women and a male. They are identified as M Landhoni of Uripok who is said to be the wife of self styled Lt Colonel Kh Jiten of the UNLF who was brought back to Imphal from Guwahati yesterday. The other female member is Henbi Chanu hailing from Andro, while the male cadre has been identified as Moiranthem Ibohal of Kabowakching, Nambol, the source added.
Except for Ibohal, all the arrested UNLF cadres were produced before the Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today and all of them have been remanded to five days police custody for further investigation.
Ibohal has been handed over to Nambol police in connection with some criminal cases pending against him at the police station.
