Training for health assistants

IMPHAL, Aug 24: The closing ceremony of the Training of Health Assistant’s Programme was conducted on 25 August. Major General CA Krishnan, IGAR(South) and Dr. Tomcha Khuman of IMA graced the occasion along with a number of civil dignitaries. At the end of the course each student was presented with a stipend of Rs. 1500, first aid medical kit worth Rs. 1500, CD containing course material, St John’s Ambulance Senior first aid certificate and Workshop attendee certificate.

In addition the topper and 2nd topper of the course were presented with cash prize of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 750 respectively. The best motivated student of the course will be given a cash prize of Rs. 750.

Earlier on 22 August, course participants conducted voluntary health education programmes in five villages around Imphal and Churachandpur. The platforms for these health education programmes varied from orphanages, Meira Paibis, school, community centres and religious institutes. Regular assessment examinations were conducted, topics revised for clarity. More stress was laid on practical aspects of the course and awareness on public. In addition, for augmenting practical knowledge, visits were made to maternal care clinic, immunization clinic, HIV testing and counseling centre, psychiatry clinic and physiotherapy clinic of JNIMS and RIMS. Three students from the batch would be given scholarship by the Home Ministry for a nursing course through the Delhi University.
