IMPHAL, Sep 16: A three-day photo exhibition jointly organized by the Election Commission of India and the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) on the theme “India and Election” concluded at the Tribal Research Institute, Chingmeirong, Imphal.
The photo exhibition aimed at ‘Greater participation for a stronger democracy’ was well received by the public. People from all walks of life, including students’ groups, research scholars, teachers, social workers, administrators, politicians and high dignitaries from the state machinery visited the exhibition.
The exhibition was organized to inform the public about the process of elections conducted in democratic India during the last 60 years. The recently completed Photo Exhibition at Imphal was the 4th Exhibition in the North East. ECI and DAVP will organize exhibitions at Aizawl and Shillong on Oct 2, 2010 and Agartala sometime in November. Earlier, exhibitions were held at Guwahati, Itanagar and Kohima.
