Former correspondent of the Statesman and human rights activist Yambem Laba expounded on the trials the media fraternity underwent during the last three decades. He stated that due to lack of essential infrastructure the media persons faced a lot of problems when bringing out their publications. The information technology available is a milestone and has greatly changed the scenario of the media in the state and disseminating information and sending or receiving information is just at the fingertips now, stated Laba.
He emphasized on the need of constructive and in depth reporting from the scribes in the state, stating that the journalists have to find means to get their scoop and to highlight it to the public so that the wrong doings of certain quarters can be checked.
