IMPHAL, Sep 6: The Imphal East district police commandos arrested at least four cadres of different factions of the KCP militants, in separate counter insurgency operations over the last 24 hours.
A statement issued by the SP Imphal East district police, Th. Radheshyam Singh, said a team of district police commandos arrested two KCP (KK Nganba faction) on September 5 at about 4:30 am from Pourabi Makha.
The individuals have been identified as one Irengbam Binoy alias B.K alias Iboicha alias Ibungo Singh, 31, son of I. Irabot Meetei of Paorabi Makha Leikai and Phijam Ingba alias Iboi Singh, son of Late Ph. Angouba Singh of Sekta Makha Leikai. One 9mm pistol (Petro and Beratta Germany) loaded with four live rounds in the magazine was recovered from their possession.
On verification, they disclosed that they are active members of KCP (KK Nganba) and they were working under one Jilla of KCP and were involved in the kidnapping of one person from Nambol who was released after Rs. 2,05,000 was extorted from him, said the statement.
It further said that another team of the district police commandos arrested another two cadres of KCP (MC) today at about 10:20 am from Porompat Dairy Farm.
The individuals were identified to be one Mutum Sushil Singh, 34, son of M. Tomba Singh of Khongjom Pukhri Achouba Mapal and Naorem Nabadip Singh, 44, son of N. Ibotombi Singh of Tentha Khunou Maibam Mamang.
A demand letter addressed to Md. Ayub Khan of a iron shop at Hatta, signed by the finance secretary Thouba and district commander Lalngakpa Meitei, one Motor Bike Honda Sleek CD-100 SL B/Regd. No. 0857 black in colour and one Nokia model No. 1208 and Sim card No. 9615947290 were recovered from their possession.
On verification they disclosed that they are active members of the KCP (MC) faction and they joined through one S/S Finance Secretary Athouba alias Dhananjoy and were involved in extortion of money from government officials and shops for party funds.
