IMPHAL, Sept 22: A state half-holiday has been declared on September 25 in connection with the grand reception ceremony of World Women’s Boxing champion MC Mary Kom to be organized jointly by YAS department, SAI and Mary Kom Boxing Academy at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
Conveying this to mediapersons, the spokesperson of SPF government, IFCD and YAS minister N. Biren stated that the Cabinet meeting held this evening under the chair of the chief minister has decided to organize a grand reception function of Mary Kom on September 25 during which the cash incentive award of Rs. 10 lakhs as announced earlier by the chief minister will be handed over to her.
The reception function will be graced by the chief minister O. Ibobi as the chief guest and YAS minister N. Biren as the president.
Further, today’s state Cabinet meeting has also decided to refer the Committee report on the controversial primary teachers’ recruitment to the law department for further examination into the matter.
It is expected that a final decision on the matter will be taken by the state government after getting legal approval from the Advocate General.
Regarding the overlapping of village jurisdictions in the ongoing census operations of 2011, the Cabinet has decided to hold district-wise meeting of all MLAs and officials from tomorrow onwards.
The Cabinet has also amended the rules of Manipur Combined Civil Services Examination by abolishing the optional papers in the preliminary examination and relaxing the age of all candidates up to three years.
The Cabinet meeting also approved setting up of Manipur state illness assistance fund under which one-time medical grant of Rs. 1 lakh (maximum) will be given to each patient belonging to below poverty line (BPL) for undergoing treatment like implanting pace-maker, anti-cancer chemotherapy and all major surgeries.
The management committee for this assistance fund will be headed by the chief secretary and the grant will be released on the recommendation of medical board headed by additional director of state health services.
The Cabinet meeting also approved direct recruitment of 78 specialist doctors under the state health services department along with continuation of the two fast track courts in the state and waiving of loans for the deceased MLAs.
The proposal for stationing a liaison officer at Bangaluru (Bangalore) for the convenience of students and patients was also approved by today’s Cabinet meeting.
