Imphal, Sep 24: Dismayed over sudden transfer and postings of five its teachers, irate students of Lilong higher secondary school destroyed infrastructures of the school. The incident occurred this afternoon.

According to some irate students, sudden transfer of five teachers of the school had caused severe hardships to the students.

One of the student informed the media that all the five teachers were transferred during a time when the school was conducting examinations for second semester.

Teachers who were transferred include one for mathematics and two each for biology and Hindi.

The student further said three teachers were deputed by the state education (S) department to join the school. Amongst the newly deputed teacher, there was one teacher for English, one computer technician and one laboratory attendant.
The student further stated that the government’s transfer order made during the middle of the academic session would not bring any good for quality education.

Demanding immediate revocation of the transfer order, the students warned of launching severe forms of agitation if the government failed to take positive action at the earliest.

Urging the state government not to effect transfer of teacher during the middle of an academic session, the student suggested to officials of the concerned department to effect transfer and postings of teachers before the commencement of any academic session.
In the meantime, students of several government schools staged protest sit-ins in demand for deputation of adequate teachers and installation of adequate infrastructures in their respective schools.
Protest sit-ins were held at Lamlong higher secondary school, Khurai and Meitei Mayek high school, Kongba etc.
Mass agitations by students of various government high schools and higher secondary schools located in the valley district today marked the protest against the mass transfer of teachers which has caused a total paralysis of normal classes in many government schools.
Showing their strong concern and dissatisfaction against the state government’s rationalization policy which has effected the transfer of teachers from various high schools and higher secondary schools located in valley districts, the students from various schools are protesting against the government policy of rationalization, terming it as one of the failures in maintaining quality education for educational institutions.
The agitations by the students began yesterday at CC Higher Secondary School with an objective to draw the attention of the state government. But with no positive response from the concerned authorities, the students of Meetei Mayek High Schools, Khurai Popular School, Heingang High School, Wangjing Higher Scondary School, Lilong Higher Secondary School staged further dharna at their respective school complexes and stayed away from classes to protest the recent transfer of the their school teachers who were mostly about to get pension.
Most prominently the students were seriously worried over the attitude of the state government in adopting a policy of massive transfers of many teachers from the schools in the name of rationalization policy without considering the academic calendars and syllabus which are running in progress.
The substitution by new teachers before the syllabus of various subjects were completed will cause serious problems for the students of different schools, said the protesting students of different schools. They further asked the state government to revoke the recent transfer order of the teachers within September 25, failure on which may result in stern agitations from the students community, the consequences of which would have to be borne by the state’s concerned authorities, the agitating students added.
