IMPHAL, Sept 30: The 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under the HQ IGAR(S) provided necessary assistance for St Peters` School, Tengnoupal to organize annual sports meet.
A release of the PRO HQ IGAR (S) said a sum of rupees ten thousand (Rs.10,000/-) in the form of provisioning of seating arrangement and marking stores was provided to the school for the annual meet.
The Unit also provided refreshments during the function and provided security for the proceeding of the function by effective area domination with a hope and view to include the locals in the mainstream of national development and flourish sporting culture amongst the youth, the release said.
Further, the 43 AR of HQ 26 under the aegis of IGAR (s) organized a medical camp at Old Samtal on September 26. As per the release, more than 120 patients were given medical treatment administered by the Medical Officer and the paramedical staff. The village chief of old Samtal village thanked the AR for their initiative to reach out to the people of remote areas with medical assistance.
In yet another occasion, the AR organized a cleanliness drive in Mantripukhri on September 30. A large number of people of the area took part in the cleanliness drive. The drive was an outcome of the initiative take by HQ IGAR (s) through 39 AR. Assistance in terms of providing tractors for lifting garbage, Malathion spray, smoke fogging machine was also provided by the AR. The drive proved out to be a success seeing the enthusiasm of the locals in working for social cause.
