IMPHAL October 11: In a gruesome incident, a personnel of the CRPF (G Coy) 143 battalion posted at Consumer Affairs and Food and Civil Supply at Sangaiprou Godawn went beserk and shot three of his fellow security personnel at around 6.20 am today and then apparently shot himself.
Unofficial reports however said he was overcome by other CRPF men and killed.
The accused is identified as constable general duty (Rifleman No. 031432757) Fomin Mohan, 23, son of VT.Mohandas of Anjuhunu Village of Kerela.
The three personnel who succumbed to his rampage are identified as Rifleman No.( 031431724) Constable Shine Rajan (22) S/o V S Rajan of Pandalam Village,Kerela ,Rifleman No.(941360339) P. Ishwara Rao (25) S/o Appala Narasama of Alikalam Village of Andhra Pradesh and Rifleman No.(031431894) Pradeep RV Nair (24) S/o Rajendran Nair of Vettinadu of Kerela.
In the meantime, three personnel of the post involved in the ugly incident have been suspended from service, according to an order by DIG Ops, AK Raghubir.
The three are one post ommander, one sector commander and one constable in the sentry post.
According to a reliable source, Fomin Mohan had an altercation with his post commander last night and he was allegedly in a drunken state when the incident happened. A source said upon finding him that condition, his superior had reprimanded him and took away his service weapon.
The source further stated that this morning Mohan got hold of a weapon kept in the barrack and tried to storm into the residencial quarter of the post commander.
He was allegedly stopped by Shine Rajan and Ishwara Rao.
After a heated confrontation, Fomin allegedly shot the duo and later shot VT Mohandas.
Reports are unclear on what happened afterwards as according to police sources Fomin tried to kill himself.
He sustained two bullet injuries to his chest and feet.
The deceased personnel have been kept at RIMS mortuary at present.
