IMPHAL, October 1: Dr. S.N Puri, vce-chancellor, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal was awarded the “Academic Leadership Awardâ” in the Agriculture Leadership Summit 2010 held at NASC Complex, New Delhi on September 29.
As per the release, Shivraj Patil, Governor of Punjab, gave the award for his brace intervention for raising the academic standards of the Central Agricultural University, Imphal. Dr.Puri, while taking the initiative to set up two more new colleges in Sikkim & Meghalaya along with starting post graduate level instructions in various colleges laid equal emphasis on all the three facets of the university- education, research and extension while taking up developmental activities.
A veteran entomologist, Dr. S.N.Puri has decorated several positions of excellence in his career and hence has been responsible for many path-breaking innovations in respective institutes.
The release further stated that he was responsible for establishing several statutory bodies in CAU. Under his leadership, the university gained many infrastructure facilities such as modern labs, instruments, several buildings among many other things. An asset to the university, Dr.Puri’s intervention has raised the academic standard of the university by several notches. His brave and unwavering stand has led to the normal discourse of the academic program despite local disturbances.
