IMPHAL, Oct 6: Security forces arrested at least five militant cadres including a woman in separate counter insurgency operations launched in different part of the state.
A statement issued by the senior superintendent police, Imphal West police, L. Kailun, said a team of the district commandos arrested three cadres of the proscribed KCP (MC) Lamyanba faction on October 5.
It said that in the first incident at about 12:05pm two cadres of the outfit were arrested in front of Hotel Excellency, acting on credible information.
The individuals are identified to be one Moirangthem Robindro alias Ibungo, 29, s/o M. Dhana Singh of Yorbung Khunou and Konsam Ranbir Singh, 39, s/o K. Khomei Singh of Yorbung.
On spot verification the two arrested cadres disclosed that they were working under the command of one Dhruba, project officer of the outfit. They were assigned to extort money from general public for party fund. A mobile handset was seized from the possession of Robindro, adyds the statement.
It said that on further verification another woman cadre of the outfit was also arrested on the same day at about 1:05 pm from Waheng Leikai Bus parking namely Phirenbam Sanatombi Devi, 51, w/o P. Amuba Singh of Moirang Sheribon.
On spot verification, she disclosed that she was also working under the command of Dhruba of the outfit. A mobile handset was seized from his possession.
Meanwhile another statement of the PRO IGAR (S) asserted that discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Nongbrang of Imphal West district, troops of 28 Assam Rifles and 21 Para (SF) of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched joint operation in the area and apprehended one PLA cadre at around 11 am on October 5.
The arrested man was identified as No.3003 SS L/Cpl Bikram alias Bobby,24 yrs s/o Premjit of Moirang Thongia, Bishenpur. A 9 mm Pistol with magazine and 4 live rounds of 9 mm were recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recoveries handed over to Yairipok Police Station.
In yet another incident, troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry of the 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area Irenbam Makha Leikai and apprehended one over ground worker of PLA at around 01.30 am today.
The arrested person was identified as Laishram Shamat Singh alias Thoiba, 35yrs, s/o Late Laishram Dhana Singh of Irenbam Makha Leikai. A Mobile hand set was recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recovery was handed over to Nambol Police station.
