IMPHAL, Oct, 1: On the occasion of International Day for the Elderly, a large scale medical camp was organized by 12 MADRAS under the aegis of Red Shield Division at Sanaikot especially for the aged people of the area.
A release of the PIB defence wing said the medical camp catered for medicines for ailments of the old age. The medical camp started with a prayer, thereafter Brigadier Surendra Mehta, Commander 27 Sector Assam Rifles formally inaugurated the medical camp. Addressing the gathering, the commander reiterated the commitment of the Red Shield Division to reach out to the needy and reassured everyone present that all possible help would be extended for the upliftment of the people of the area.
Medical Officers from 27 Sector Assam Rifles, Capt Rituraj and Capt Geetika Singla attended to the elderly patients who amounted to an approximate figure of 300 by the end of the day. Special transport arrangements were done to ferry elderly patients from distant villages to the medical camp location. The commander also felicitated the eldest person coming for treatment by gifts. Apart from extending CSD facilities to the general public, lunch was also catered for the patients reporting for treatment.
