IMPHAL Oct 5: The Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has congratulated the re-elected president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam on his stand that the territorial integrity of the state will not be compromised.
A press release by the MPP general secretary (Media) ,Y .Mangi singh stated that the words spoken by the MPCC President on September 21 , “I have received threats due to my firm stand that the state’s boundary will not be compromised, but I will be resilient on my principles, come what mayâ€,is highly appreciated by the MPP.
However, the statement voiced suspicion that the MLA was one among the 13 MLAs that signed the memorandum submitted to the Centre which appealed for the integration of Naga inhabited areas in 2004.
There has been no information that Gaikhangam have retracted his signature or have claimed otherwise.
The MPP in the statement urged Gaikhangam to come clear on his stand and clarify in the regard.
