IMPHAL, Oct 5: The 7th National Conference of the Physics Academy of the North East PANE 2010 was opened today in a function held at the Lecture Theatre of the Manipur Institute of Management Studies, Manipur University. Prof.C.Amuba Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU was the Chief Guest in the inaugural function while Prof.D.K Choudhury, Executive President, PANE presided the function and Prof.A.Surjalal Sharma, University of Maryland, USA was the Guest of Honor and delivered the key note address at the function.
The Chief Guest in his speech encouraged the role of young physicist for their confidence and urged them to generate their roles.
As per the release, the two day conference was sponsored by DST, DRDO, INSA (New Delhi) and DST of Govt of Manipur and organized by the Department of Physics, Manipur University. A felicitation program was also offered to the four distinguished scientists, Prof. C.Amuba Singh, VC, Prof.H.Nanda Kumar Sarma, Pro VC, Prof. Barbora of Guwahati University and Prof.A.Surjalal Sharma of Maryland University, USA in the two day conference which was attended by about 60 delegates from outside Manipur.
