NEW DELHI, October 24 (MIC): Irengbam Arun, editor of Ireibak and Ningthoukhongjam Sanatomba, editor of Manipur Mail from Manipur are among 300 editors and financial writers across thecountry invited for the two- day annual Economic Editors` Conference(EEC-2010) to be held at National Media Centre, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi from October 26 to 27, 2010.
The two editors from Manipur arrived here this evening from Imphal and informed that they would appraise various issues relating to the development of Manipur in the Conference. The Press Information Bureau under the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting will organize the Conference.
Sources from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said that Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the 2-day Annual Economic Editors’ Conference (EEC-2010) on October 26, 2010 iat 11.30 am at the National Media Centre, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. It will be followed by Finance Minister’s inaugural address. Thereafter, he along with senior officials of the Ministry will interact with the participating economic editors from different parts of the country along with local editors, freelancers and correspondents covering the Finance Ministry.
During the two days EEC-2010, separate sessions are being arranged for the key economic and infrastructure ministries participating in the Conference in which the Minister(s) and senior officials of the concerned Ministry will brief the media about their respective Ministry. The Conference will enable economic editors and journalists, invited from all over the country to interact with them and get a detailed background of the government’s policies and programmes. The media persons will get a comprehensive view of the overall economic scenario in the country and the latest initiatives and thrust areas of the different participating ministries and departments of the Government. The Conference will also provide an opportunity to the Central Government to get feedback from the economic editors especially those representing and coming from different parts of the country.
Beside Finance Ministry, other Ministries which will participate in two days EEC-2010 include Planning Commission, Ministries of Power, Agriculture, Railways, Road Transport & Highways and Petroleum & Natural Gas. About 300 economic editors and financial writers including more than 60 editors from vernacular press across the country will be participating in the two days EEC-2010, sources added.
