IMPHAL, Nov 23: In support of the 48 hours nationwide cease work strike called by the National Federation of Akashvani and Dordarshan Employees (NFADE), employees of the Doordarshan Kendra, Imphal and All India Radio, Imphal struck work today in demand for repeal of the Prasar Prasar Bharti Act, 1990.

The national federation demanded for the revocation of the act and for a replacement legislation in keeping with the changing time during the ongoing Parliament session.

Speaking to media persons, a protestor disclosed that the cease work strike started this morning from 9 am and continued till 3pm.

They also said the cease work strike will continue till November 25.

Employees registered under National Federation of All India Radio and Doordarshan joined the cease work strike except for administration staff.

They also said employees of the AIR and DDK worked under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Central government and later after the Prasar Bharti Act, 1990 was passed by the concern authority the staffs of AIR and DDK of the country become working under umbrella of a board implemented this Act.

Condemning the Act, the spokesperson further mentioned that since the implementation of the Act no employee of both the AIR and Doordarshan were upgraded.
