IMPHAL Nov 14 : Following the revelation of selling and issuing of pattas to individuals of land belonging to Manipur State Transport Corporation located at Dimapur a ministeral team headed by transport minister L.Jayantakumar will leave for Dimapur within the next few days to take stock of the situation.
According to highly placed sources, as per instruction of the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi , the team has been assigned to dig out the facts and take up corrective measures in the regard.
The team will meet Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, revenue minister and the concerened deputy commisioner of Dimapur under whose orders the land pattas were issued to the private parties.
The team will consist of works minister K. Ranjit State Planning Board Deputy Chairman Bijoy Koijam, deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Lokeshwor, Chairman of the Manipur Pollution Control Board E. Dwijamani along with the director and commisioner of the state transport department.
It may be mentioned the 4.241 acres of land alloted by the Nagaland government to the Manipur State Transport Corporation located at Block 3 of Dimapur town has been allegedly encroached upon by private parties.
In regard to the incident the anti-corruption cell of Dimapur District Congress Committee (DCC) sought clarification from DC Dimapur on the land pattas issued on Nov 9 DCC cell had claimed that through some public complaint and reliable sources, it was learned that DC Dimapur had issued land pattas belonging to Manipur State Transport, plot of land near Public College of Commerce and also some portion of the circuit house boundary wall to some individual/parties.
The DCC had asserted that the pattas of public places was still being issued randomly. It stated that the land belonging to P.W.D department, meant for its central store, was also allotted for NPF Dimapur division office in 2009.
Further, it pointed out that the allocation was made based on some directives from VVIP, as per the clarification issued by DC Dimapur then.
The cell sought immediate clarification from the DC’s office basing on what grounds and under whose directive the pattas were issued. They also urged all the denizens of Dimapur, civil societies/NGOs not to be ignorant but to come forward with a common voice by maintaining that such places were meant for convenience of the public, irrespective of party affiliation, favoritism, nepotism.
