IMPHAL, Dec 5: The SPF Government regretted what it called the unprincipled act of the president of a political party for creating misunderstanding in the media against the tripartite talk held at Senapati between the GOI, the state Government and representatives of Naga capex bodies, said YAS, IFCD minister and spokesperson of the SPF, N. Biren Singh.
The minister while briefing media persons in this regard during a press conference held today at his office chamber, said that the SPF Government has always dealt matters related to the territorial integrity of Manipur seriously and never left room for compromise on the issue.
The recent ban imposed on Muivah, general secretary NSCN (IM) by the SPF government from entering Manipur is the solid example of the stand of the government on the issue, said N. Biren.
While clarifying on the motive behind the tripartite talk held between the UNC with GOI and GOM, N. Biren revealed that the authorities were performing their duties.
It is the duty of a Government to address the grievances of its people, he added.
Further he pointed out that during the talk the Naga bodies placed four demands before the government and discussions were held on all four demands.
The demand included, to declare the ADC election null and void, to revoke the wanted tag imposed on the leader of the UNC and ANSAM, a judicial enquiry to probe the death of two students at Mao and to give explanations on the motive behind the barring of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president from entering Manipur during the recent tension regarding the entry of Muivah.
In response to the demands put up by the Naga bodies, the government had made its stand clear that declaring ADC election null and void is not possible in a democratic set up, said the spokespersons.
Besides that it had clarified that the wanted tag was imposed by an order of the Guwahati High court and the Government has nothing to do with it, said Biren.
However the Government assured to institute a Judicial Enquiry in the Mao killing in the interest of the people.
Further in his clarification on the barring of NSF president, the spokesperons stated that it had clarified that no official intimidation was given to the state besides the situation during the time was tense owing to the visit of Muivah and also a curfew was underway.
On the other hand, while clarifying on the allegation on the visit of Chief Minister, Ibobi to Delhi in connection with the arrest of Meghen, Biren claimed that the Chief Minister met the Prime Minister and Home Minister and requested to treat the rebel leader on humanitarian ground besides pressuring to bring a political solution.
No official intimation or information was given with regards to the recent episode of the arrest of RK. Meghen, the chairman of UNLF, he said.
The Spokespersons has also appealed to the people not to doubt on the stand of the SPF on issues of Territorial boundary of the state and also appealed to the various political parties in the state not to try to create confusion in the state.
At the same time, in his clarification on the reports of dissidents among the Congress members forming an ally with the BJP, Biren asserted that it was a rumour and has also appealed to the public not to trust such reports.
