IMPHAL, Dec 5: Reiterating its demand the Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) will intensify its agitation by launching a relay hunger strike from tomorrow coupled with the ongoing cease work strike and has further warned of more protest.
A press statement issued by the COTA, informed that even as the ongoing cease work strike has entered 20 days the Government has remained as mute spectators and to further mount pressure on the Government the teachers association is left with no other choice but to intensify their agitation.
The relay hunger strike will be staged in front of the CC Higher Secondary School as a first phase however if the Government continue to go unheeded to the just demands of the teachers the COTA is all set to intensify their movement further.
It also mentioned that the failure of the Government to implement the MoU for more than 7 months clearly shows the state government’s disregard and apathy for the teachers,
Meanwhile, the Chandel District Teachers’ Association, (ZEO) has extended their strong support to the ongoing cease work strike launched by the Council of Teachers’ Association (COTA) against the non fulfillment of the Mou signed with the state Government on 6th Pay commission in toto.
A statement released by KT. Kolenson secy of COTA, has claimed that it is an apex body which is spear heading various district Government/affiliated institutions, organization/committee like the Teachers Union, Maha Union Govt. Higher Secondary School, School Development Committee Teaching Staff of the Liwaching Govt. Higher Secondary.
To show their support a sit in protest was also held at District Head Quarter on December 2010. Further it warned that the concerned joint committee is determined to take up various forms of agitation in case the concerned authority fails to give positive response within a short period.
