IMPHAL, Dec 10 (NNN): At least six members of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) have been apprehended by Imphal West commando teams from different places during the last 24 hours. said S Ibomcha Manipur Police Service (MPS) Deputy Sub-Inspector (Ops) Imphal West Friday.
On December 9 at around 8 pm, three cadres of RPF/PLA, including a woman, were arrested by Imphal West police from a rented house in Naoramthong bazaar who have been planning an attack on non-locals in Manipur, said the DSP (Ops) of Imphal West police commando.
The three arrested rebels of RPF/PLA have been identified as Shijagurumayum Kokoton aka Raj Sharma, 47, s/o Sh Tombi Sharma of Keishampat Thokchom Leikai, his wife Shijagurumayum Bijaya aka Bema Devi, 43 and M Tarun aka Bung Singh, 35, s/o M Muni of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, presently staying at a rented house in Naoremthong Bazaar, Imphal West district. A 9 mm pistol with one magazine and 3 live rounds have been recovered from Kokoton, informed a police source.
On further interrogation, Kokoton and Tarun have owned up the responsibility in the killing of a non-local balloon seller in Keishampat in November last. Kokoton’s wife, Bijaya has also disclosed her role in aiding and abating in the crime committed by Kokoton and Tarun, said the police.
The Imphal West police team has also succeeded in apprehending three members of the proscribed PREPAK from Singjamei Super Market today at around 1 pm.
The three arrested persons were cadres of PREPAK Project I, responsible for depositing and recovering of the organization’s ransom demands and have been identified as Thengbam Somarendro aka Tombung aka Yambung, 43, s/o Th Moti of Kakwa Lamdaibung, Khumukcham Babloo Singh, 31, s/o Kh Tomba Singh of Pishum Ningom Leikai and Maibam Raju aka Vicky, 31, s/o (L) M Ibotombi of Khagempally Pankha.
They revealed that they had come in the area to pick up demand money. A 9 mm pistol with one magazine and 6 live rounds were recovered from the arrested PREPAK cadres, said the police.
