IMPHAL, Dec 13: Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram is scheduled for arrival at Tulihal Airport at around 2.30 pm today to overview the overall law and order situation of the state.
A highly placed official source said the minister will assess various issues of the state including those related to education policy.
Students representatives of 28 high schools along with the school administrative bodies will submit representations to the union minister to take up measures to prevent uncalled for disturbances in the academic atmosphere of the state in future.
An interaction program with various civil organization leaders and students’ bodies with the Union minister will be held at Raj Bhawan tomorrow, the source further stated.
On Wednesday, the minister will also attend a high level meeting at the Chief Minister bungalow along with high officials of the state administration including the top officials of the state home department including the DGP and other lead authorities of the army and para military forces.
The meeting, according to the source will address the conflict situation prevalent and the necessary measures to be taken up to bring a change in the present scenario of the state.
Later, the Union Minister will also visit the KNA/KNO designated camp located at Saikot and meet with leaders of the Kuki insurgent groups who are at suspension of operation with the Indian Government and the state.
The source also said the Union Minister would visit Sendra.
The minister will sit in a meeting with the Governor Gurbachan Jagat at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday evening to discuss the overall situation of the state.
Prior to the arrival of Chidambaram, stringent security measures have been taken up within the greater Imphal area today and night security have been intensified.
