IMPHAL, Nov 30: In successful counter insurgency operations launched in different part of the state, security forces have arrested at least four women overground workers and three militant cadres during the past 24 hours.
In the first incident, Thoubal district police commandos arrested four women overground workers of the proscribed KYKL while conducting frisking and checking duty at Charangpat Mamang Leikai on November 29 around 1:30 pm.
The arrested individuals have been identified Laishram Bhani Devi, 40, w/o L. Raghu Singh Heirok Part-I, Oinam Shanti Devi, 38, w/o Ibohal Singh of Heirok part-I, Thingujam Sobashini Devi, 47, wife of Th Dilip Singh of Charangpat Mamang Leikai and Thangjam Roma Devi, 40, wife of Th Surendra Singh of Heirok part-II.
An amount of rupess 2, 80, 000 in cash were recovered from the possession of Laishram Bhani Devi, a statement issued by the Thoubal SP, Clay Khongsai said.
On the other hand, a combined team of 17Assam Rifles and 165 TA Bn under HQ IGAR (South) arrested three cadres of the NSCN (IM) along with arms and ammunitions.
A statement issued by the PRO IGAR (South) said discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area of Ukhrul town, the combined troops launched a joint operation and apprehended three NSCN (IM) cadres at around 4.30 am today.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Kaping Luikham, 24 yrs, s/o David Luikham of Kongkan, Kamjong, Ephrem AS,30 yrs, s/o Mayami AS of Marao, Litan and Ramreiyo Kapai,29 yrs,s/o Ruichumbao of Hungdung, Ukhrul. A 9mm Pistol along with 6 live ammunitions, 90 Detonators, 2.5 kgs of high explosives and 5 meters of safety fuze were recovered from the apprehendees who alongwith recoveries were deposited to Porampat Police station.
