IMPHAL Jan 13: Discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area of Khongsai, troops of 28 Assam Rifles and 5 Assam Rifles launched a joint operation in the said area and apprehended two UTLA militants from the area on January 12. The apprehended cadres have been identified as K Khongsai, 30, s/o Late J Khongsai of Khongsai–I and Ngamkholal Singson, 50, s/o Late N Singson of New Langulen. The cadres were later handed over to Porompat Police station.
In yet another incident, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) launched operation along NH-39 and apprehended a boy from a Maruti van Regn No.MN 01 W6050 at around 10 am today at Sita track Junction. On questioning, it was found that he was newly recruited by the UNPC outfit and was being taken away for training. The youth has been identified as Athem, 16, s/o Ashi, resident of Bakwa, Noney, Tamenglong. The individual was handed over to his parents through the help of Tegnoupal Police station as a good will and humane gesture.
