IMPHAL, Jan 20: Following reports that the proscribed PULF (MI-Khan) is controlled from outside the State by its higher ups, the 16 MARATHA Light Infantry under the aegis of Red Shield Division and based on confirmation regarding the presence of the higher ups in South Goa, carried out an operation in co-ordination with Manipur Police and Goa Police yesterday in South Goa and apprehended four cadres of PULF MI (Khan)
An official release from the PIB Defence Wing the apprehended cadres of the PULF (MI-Khan) were identified as Samsat alias Sarabanu, 35, acting chairman PULF MI Khan group, w/o Md Islamudin Khan alias MI Khan, Md Nursafir alias Safi, 33, Home and Publicity Secretary, Md Samir Khan alias Babu, 19, District Commander, Imphal West, resident of Kairao Makha Leikai, Imphal East and Ayakpam Maniram Singh alias Mukna , 30, assistant project officer, resident of Mayang Imphal. One Laptop Lenovo, six Nokia Mobiles with SIM Cards and incriminating documents were recovered from the individuals during search of their residence in Goa.
The release further mentioned that, since the arrest of the chairman of the group, the group was continuing with extortion and terror related activities. Some of the important cadres were identified to be operating from Goa. The Army team was launched on January, 18, from Imphal.
Subsequently in a meticulous and swift operation, the individuals were apprehended at 4:30 pm of January 19. On spot enquiry carried out by Goa Police the arrested persons revealed that they were controlling their cadres in Manipur from Goa and incriminating documents confirming their extortion activities were recovered from their possessions, the release added.
