IMPHAL, Jan 19: At least 16 students along with 3 teachers were today sent off for an educational tour to Delhi by DIG 10 sector Assam Rifle Brig Narendra Kumar SM, in the presence of 23 Assam Rifle officials today from Sangsat 23 AR post in Ukhrul district.
Speaking on the sidelines of flagging off the tour, Brig Narendra Kumar stated the tour as a great opportunity for inmates of various orphanages of Ukrul and Imphal East districts of Manipur. The tour organized by the 23 AR under the aegis of the HQ 10 Sector, will take the children to various historic monuments of the country and will further give the children a change to watch the Republic Day celebration at New Delhi.
He has further maintained that the state has to work for development of the society through education only only education can bring peace and wealth into the state. Gun culture will never bring peace and prosperity to the society. He further advised the children to remain away from drugs and gun culture.
He further asked the children to work to become highly educated and work for the development of the state.
He has also maintained that the tour has been organized to educate the children of the area about the ways of the outside world.
Further he has applauded the persistent effort of the 23 AR in reaching out to the masses with its humane approach towards the society which has helped it to establish itself as ‘Friends of the Hill People’.
Before the sent off ceremony, the DIG also distributed bags and gifts to the 21 orphan student from different places. The children included 8 each of boys and girls reading in class VI (six) to IX and two male and female teachers from community Meitei, Tangkhul, and Kuki who are from Nongdam tangkhul, Maphou, Lamlai and Sagolmang villages.
In the meantime speaking media persons official of the assam rifle desclosed that these orphans children along with 2 teachers and official of the Assam Rifle excursion for two week will visit many military and political dignitaries in Delhi and also the prominent companies working in the state Manipur viz Ansals and KABUR who are presently working at Thoubal Multipurpose project, Maphou and Phumdi removing at Loktak lake.
And further these children will visit different shopping mall, watching movies, parks, Zoo and historical monument in Delhi.
