IMPHAL Jan 7: Unidentified persons suspected to be underground elements carried out bomb attacks in three separate incidents today.
An expolsion occured at the Golapati K R Lane residence of one Abdul Khalik ,38, S/o Abdul Kadir ,originally from Borayangbi.The said incident took place at around 9.20 pm today.
There was no casualities in the explosion aside from causind damage to property.
A car MNO1W/5903 belonging to Khalik was damaged. The explosion also damaged the adjoining wall and windows of his neighbour ,one Boypu Sartu Kom and the adjoining neighbour household items of S Manishek Kom.
Reports culled from the spot stated that a rolling sound could be heard from the tin roofing of Abdul Khalik and the explosion occured afterwards,sound of a gunshot was also heard afterwards. According to police, the attack was directed to Khalik , who is a businessman.At the time of attack, he was not at home.
In another incident , two motorcycle borne youths lobbed a hand grenade at the Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai residence of one Langpoklakpam Ibochoubi who is an employee of the Tourism Department at around 11.30 am today. The grenade landed near the courtyard and failed to explode. Police recovered the grenade and registered a case in the regard.
Similarly , a grenade was found at the residential quarter of one Keisam Rajendro at Lamphel quarter number 83 at about 7.20 pm today. Rajendro is a Block Development Officer.
