IMPHAL, Jan 28: An earthquake of moderate magnitude today rocked the entire State. The earthquake which was triggered at 4:10:8am was felt at 4:10:200.46 Sec am at the Seismological Observatory of Manipur University and lasted about 5.0 seconds.
According to a release of the department of the earth sciences, Manipur university the epicentre of the earthquake was located near Sittaung of Myanmar, located near the western bank of Chindwin River. The magnitude of the earthquake is estimated to be 4.5 ML and focal depth is about 100 Km. This is the 11th felt earthquake triggered since 2010. All these epicenters fall in the Central-Burma-Mollase-Basin along the Chindwin River.
