Governor of Manipur leads way to condole Imasi, SPF govt still silent

    IMPHAL, Jan 19: The Governor of Manipur and various other organizations of the state has condoled the demise of Padmashri M.K. Binodini who was also fondly known as “Imasi”.
    The condolence message from the Manipur Governor Gurbachan Jagat said that MK Binodini was a great social activist, scholar, poet and novelist whose sudden death has created a void in the state. He shares the sorrows and grievances with the family of the deceased and the people of Manipur.
    The Governor also wished that her soul rest in peace and may her family and the people of the state be guided by the eternal light she has left behind.
    The president of Manipur People’s Party, Dr. Nimaichand Luwang has also expressed deep sense of sorrow at the sad demise of Imasi Binodini.
    The Senior Citizens for Society, Imphal, has also condoled the demise of Binodini stating that she was a beacon light and a role model for all Manipuri women, adding that her disappearance from the society is an irreparable loss not only to her bereaved family but also to the entire people of Manipur.
    Further, the president of All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers Union, Bhupendra Ghosh has also condole the sudden demise of renowned scholar saying that that Manipur has lost a great woman and the union will always remember her as a great sympathizer of the drivers’ community.
    The Manipur Film Development Co-orporation and Ethno Heritage Council have also sent in their condolence in separate press releases.
    In the meantime, various other social organisations of the Manipuri communities residing at the Barak valley have also extended their condolence messages in connection with the sudden demise of Imasi.
    A joint release e-mailed to the IFP has mentioned that the representatives and volunteers of Naharol Khorirol Shillup, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Assam, MALADES Assam, Writers Guild, Barak Valley Meitei Womens Foundation Lakhipur, Nahamarup Cachar, All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Committee, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Lakhipur Branch have jointly observed a condolence meeting at the Nararol Khrorol Community hall Lakhipur Assam by observing a two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul this afternoon.
