IMPHAL, Jan 13: The Four day Golden Jubilee of the Maram Students Union has been inaugurated today at the Senapati HQ public ground under the theme “Education and Social transformation”. The inaugural function of the four day long jubilee celebration was attended by B Hing, first president of the Maram Students Union, Pungdi P Celestine, president of MSU, and RK Peter president Maram Union as the chief guest, president and guest of honour.
Pungdi P Celestine in his presidential speech stated that the Golden Jubilee celebration is the most fulfilling and important occasion in the life of any organization and institute. He maintained that the MSU was founded in the year 1961 and there have been a lot of changes in the Maram community.
About the celebration of the occasion he stated that it is a befitting occasion to bring back the beauty and glory of the past which in turn reaffirmed the faith, hope and determination to move ahead.
Taking the historic occasion of the Golden jubilee he has further appealed to the people to take a pledge to join together in the strengthening of the MSU institution block by block.
He has further maintained that the MSU has been carrying out various programmes and activities as a medium of taking the joyous celebration among the people. The union had organized various sports festival, cultural festivals, community fishing (Kajoi), massive tree plantation along the NH 39, painting and essay writing competition and a district health mela in collaboration with district health mission society, Senapati district Manipur as a tribute to late Apei Hinga, Queen of Maram.
B Hing, the chief guest of the inaugural function released two souvenirs of the golden jubilee celebration and the Maram Student Union, Shillong.
The function also observed a two minute silence in memory of all the past leaders of the union. The function also saw the erecting of a memorial structure for the golden jubilee celebration.
