IMPHAL, Jan 30: The Nation paid homage to the martyrs who suffered and died for the freedom, welfare, and progress of the country, on January 30 every year. It was on January 30, 1948 that Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.As an honour to the National Martyr’s and other unsung heroes who had laid down their lives while fighting the crucial ‘Battle of Shangshak’. Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 10 Sector AR observed Martyr’s Day at the Shangshak War Memorial. People from all walks of lives stood shoulder to shoulder in paying their homage and gratitude to the Martyr’s of the Nation. Various village elders were honoured on the occasion. The function was attended by more than 450 persons at the Shangshak War Memorial.
