IMPHAL, Jan 18: Properties worth several lakhs of rupees were completely destroyed by a sudden devastating fire that broke out along the row of shops near Senapati Bridge last night around 10.45pm.
According to reliable source, the actual cause of the fire could not be established officially but it has been generally assumed that the fire might have resulted from an electric short circuit last night from one of the shop located near the Senapati Bridge.
Sources have also stated that most of the shops which were completely razed by the fire belong jointly to one Purul and Beirung both from Senapati HQ. The destroyed shops include groceries, hardware, shops selling second hand garments.
Timely intervention from local public and fire tenders controlled the fire from spreading any further, the source added.
