IMPHAL Jan 28: Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has shut down S Kumar Nursing Institute, Porompat along with other branches including the acupressure and paramedical classes of the said institution on charges of duping the students of the institutes. The said S Kumar institution is allegedly running unauthorized as the students presently undergoing nursing training are being withheld from appearing exams affecting their career.
A press release by Wangmayum Islauddin , Vice President of the student body states that DESAM had begun an investigation in regard to the unauthorized nursing institutes since 2010 December.
On getting complaints from students of S Kumar Institute, DESAM approached the board members of the institution for clarifying their stand, but the members had remained reluctant and have remained so in the regard. DESAM had fixed a joint meeting with the parents and staff and deliberated on the matter for the future of the nursing students career and approached the board members of their institute but no chance to determine the facts were given , five days were given to the concerned to clarify but no word was had from them , the release stated.
Further, DESAM had instructed to call off the classes of the institute and also its sister concerns namely the acupressure and paramedical classes , but it was found that the classes of the latter was going on. The infuriated parents of the students had caused a furor then. The said incident took place on January 12.
The release further state that , a notice had appeared as an advertisement that S Kumar institute will hold the necessary exams under the aegis of Assam paramedical Nursing Institute , namely by one advisor K Bhagerat of Khurai konsam Leikai and the academic calendar of the students will not be affected.
A press conference held in the regard at the office of DESAM with the students and parents of S Kumar today in the presence of the said advisor revealed that , K Bhagerat had no responsible office in the institute and was a mere scapegoat , according to his own confession. The open invitation cum notice turned out to be false and misleading according to per statement of the advisor and the investigation by DESAM.
The students body also alleged one Yumnam Dilipkumar , the president of the United Clubs Manipur as being the mastermind of the whole operation , DESAM officials alleged that Dilipkumar along with his family members is duping the students for mere monitory benefits , he was charged as a con man masquerading as a social activist and the necessary punishable actions have to be initiated in te regard by the UCM itself.
The student body in purview of the scandal has imposed a ban to S Kumar and its sister institutes concerns with immediate effect.
