IMPHAL, Feb 2: The affected villagers due to the airport expansion have urged the Government to make proper alternative arrangement for their settlement if they are asked to vacate from their homestead.
The reaction came in a statement issued by the Ningombam Social Welfare Club, Ningombam Leikai, following the news item announced through the radio that Government will forcefully vacate the villagers who had collected compensation for their affected lands.
It said that the affected villagers acknowledge the step taken up by the Government for the development of the State and they are not against such welfare programme.
However it urged the Government to make proper arrangement for re-settlement of the displace villagers besides fulfilling proper ground works and assurance made by the Chief Minister.
While referring to the re-settlement it demanded the Government to set up a Model Village. At the same time, it further appealed to the government to give away the pending compensation, to carry out necessary survey of standing properties, to complete acquisition process, to complete genuine land classification which was carried out in the presence of Transport Minister, concerned DC and MLA and also convert the assurances given by the Chief Minister into action.
