IMPPHAL, Feb 14: The Joint meeting of the power consumers of the state which was convened by S Ibotombi Singh yesterday at the hall of Lizard Library, Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak has decided to form the `All Manipur Power Consumers` Association`.
According to a release of the newly formed association, the joint meeting yesterday have elaboratelydiscussed the existing controversies between thestate electricity department and consumers of the state while collecting the due power tariff during the recent drive conducted by the state power department.
The release further mentioned that, after a deep discussion, the meeting resolved to appeal the state electricity department to take up the actions as per the guidelines given by the Power Regularization Commission in terms of power disconnections and awarding penalties to the unauthorized connection, collection of power bills as per meter indications, exposing to extra legal mechanism by the chief engineer of the state electricity departmentbefore taking actions against the defaulters and unauthorizedpower connection, regular payment of the due bills by the consumers, acceptances of payment of due electric bills by theconsumers and maintenance of proper complaint rooms with adequate staffs.
