IMPHAL, Feb 17: The superintendent of central Sajiwa Jail, Imphal refuted the report of ill-treatment meted out to the teachers under the aegis of COTA lodge in judicial custody at Central Sajiwa Jail.
A statement released by the SP clarified that prison inmates lodged in the jail are not ill treated, beaten and forced fed as appeared in certain newspapers. It further asserted that no prison inmates in jail are on hunger strike or on fast as such act is gross violation of jail discipline who are kept under judicial custody under Jail manual.
While terming the report as false and baseless it appeal not to publish such allegation without ascertaining the truth from concern jai authority in the larger interest of the public.
