JAC imposes road block, eight vehicles damaged during blockade

IMPHAL, Feb 11: A JAC was formed today in connection with the killing of Khundrakpam Thoiba of Nachau Kha Leikai a security official of the Aircel company.
The JAC submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding payment of Rs 15 lakhs ex-gratia to the family, arrest of the culprits at the earliest possible and providing a suitable job to the next of kin.
The JAC while decrying the silence maintained by Aircel during Thoiba’s kidnapping has also maintained that the dead body will not be accepted until the government fulfills their demands.
Members and supporters of the JAC further imposed a sudden bandh along the Nachaou parking and Nachaou Panthong stretch of Tiddim road in connection with the killing.
Around eight unsuspecting vehicles including two buses one tata sumo, one winger, two auto rickshaws, one maruti car and a scooter coming towards Imphal for their daily business were attacked and damaged by the bandh supporters and were further asked to turn back.
Meanwhile three bandh supporters including two women were hurt due to tear gas firing of the police to disperse the crowd.
The JAC also maintained that they will continue with the road blockade until the government fulfills their demands.
