IMPHAL, Feb 27: With the objective to maintain the state youth policy, a one day District Youth Convention on empowerment of youths was jointly organized today by D-CACUS Education Centre, Ningthoukhong and Youth Foundation for fitness and Service Manipur (YOFFS) under the sponsorship of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Bishnupur, Govt. of India at the Ningthoukhong community hall.
The youth convention was attended by Dr IS Konthoujam, CMD, DCEC and social worker S Nilakomol Singh as resource persons and they presented their papers on Roles of Youths Development and Youths in Manipur-past, present and future respectively.
Group discussions of the around 150 participants marked the uniqueness of the youth convention as several participants share the views on the need of having a firm youth policy of the state.
In the meantime, as part of the youth convention, the Youth Club Award as presented every year by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Bishnupur was given to Naree Kalyan Samiti Wahengkhuman Chingphu Bazar which includes a cash prizes of Rs.10,000 in cheque, along with a citation. Further youth award for the district was presented to Leimapokpam Chanu Nganbileima, Keinoui Phiral Makhong and Kangabam Sushila Devi of Saiton Maning Leikai which includes Rs. 5000 each along with citations.
The youth convention today at Ningthoukhong Community hall was also attended by M Bimola Devi, chairperson, Ningthoukhong Municipal Council as chief guest, Ishaque Shah addl SP Bishnupur district, L Marjit Singh, district youth co-ordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Bishnupur and L Meghavarna Singh, International Referee Taekwondo as special guest.
