IMPHAL, March 29: The JAC formed in regard to the incident of the killing of Irom Rozer commenced a sit in protest from today onwards at Wangkhei Angom Leikai today. The protestors demanding the resignation of minister N Biren on moral grounds will continue, until their demands are met, stated JAC spokesperson A Binarani.
Meanwhile decrying the today’s cabinet decision wherein the Rozer killing case has been handed over to the CBI, the state BJP unit, president Shantikumar lambasted the government before the press at its office here, questioning the rational behind the decision.
He maintained that “Ajay Meitei who shot I Roger to his death in cold blood has admitted to having committed the crime, what then is the need for the institution of an investigation by CBI and other such independent body,” he asked, suggesting that “the court should simply give its verdict based on the available evidence and the admission by the accused himself.” He further added that “minister Biren should resign from his official responsibility while his son should be handed out a capital punishment or a lifetime imprisonment verdict,”.
He also demanded a resignation of the state Chief Minister on the grounds that he is unable to safeguard the people of the state.
further more he has demanded a clarification from the Chief Minister on the case involving the shooting of the AG, Koteshore, by a cabinet minister. He went on to seek revelation on the identity of a minister’s wife who was caught sometimes back at Tulihal Airport with a battery of munitions in her luggage.
