IMPHAL, Mar 26: A 3 days regional capacity building workshop on “Training and mentoring staff of Aspiration and Rehabilitation Centers of National Trust” concluded today at the conference hall, Hotel Mass, Dharamshala which was organized by the Spastic Society of Manipur, Imphal in association with the National Trust for the welfare of persons with autism, C.P, M.R and M.D. & Voice and Vision, India.
Around 42 persons from different states of the country like West Bengal, Sikkim, Mizoram, Silchar, Guwahati and Manipur participated in the workshop.
The voice and vision India is a National Resource and Training Center for children with visual impairment and multiple disabilities and was established in 2002, supported by Perkins International, Perkins School for the Blind, USA. The mission of voice and vision is to build expertise and leadership among educators, caregivers and families of children with MDVI and to increase educational opportunities for children with MDVI by creating and utilizing a cadre of skill professionals.
Renowned expert in the field of rehabilitation were also present at the workshop and they have shared their expertise on various topics to empower the educators to enrich the educational programme for children with MDVI.
The conclusion training programme was also attended by Poonam Nataranjan, chairperson, National Trust of India, Anindita Mukherjee, deputy director, Voice and Vision, India, Dr. Jayanty Narayan, consultant and former deputy director of NIMH, G. Loganathan, consultant physiotherapist and Rajul Padmanabhan, director, Vidyasagar, Chennai.
