IMPHAL, March 2: As safety measures to ensure smooth functioning of the ensuing Tenth Session of the Ninth Manipur Legislative Assembly commencing from 11 am of March 8, the Manipur Legislative Assembly has set up specified entry and exits points for the elected representatives of the state to attend the session including the Chief Minister, the Speaker, Ministers, MLAs and VIPs etc.
The chief security officer of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th. Nimai Singh, in an official statement has informed that the vehicles of the Chief Minister and ministers shall enter through gate No.1 and exit through gate No. 2. while the vehicles of the speaker, opposition leaders, deputy speaker, chairman Hill Areas Committee, (HAC), vice chairman HAC and chairman of financial committees will park their vehicles inside the Assembly compound.
The vehicles of the MLAs will enter through gate No. 3 and exit through the same gate and park at the western side of the Family welfare Department.
It has further restricted parking of vehicles belonging to the government secretariat officials, departments and press inside the assembly compound and has instead allotted the western side of the family welfare department for their parking. At the same time it has also restricted private vehicles of the assembly secretariat staff and employees from entering the assembly compound and instead their parking space has been allotted at the eastern side of Indira Park.
However it informed that the official vehicles of the Medical team, Fire Tenders of Manipur Fire services shall park inside the Assembly compound.
It restricted visitors vehicles not to cross beyond the crossing point of the National Highway 39 at the eastern side and Assembly roads at the western side. And material/articles not related to the business of the House and cell phones, if any, in the possession of the Members of the house shall be deposited with the security personnel on duty.
Ministers, members, officers and media persons are further requested to switch off their cell phones while inside the house.
