Awareness campaign advocates proper implemetation of govt schemes in Tamenglong

TAMENGLONG, May 19: The three day Public Information campaign at Tamenglong Indoor Stadium organized by PIB Imphal ended today with a closing function attended by DP Panmei, ex minster and principal of Christian Grammar School Tamenglong, ID Akubou retd ZEO and Dr Gaithaorung Kamei, Chief Medical Officer Tamenglong as chief guest, guest of honour and president of the function respectively.

Speaking as chief guest, DP Panmei, ex minister urged the young people of the district to open their eyes and work towards the development of the region. He added that the Bharat Nirman campaign is to provide awareness to the people about the various development schemes and funds released by the government. He further asked the youth to find defaulters of the various development schemes and try to correct it according to the various directions provided during the campaign and ensure that full development of the region under the government schemes and funds are taking place.

Further speaking at the function he asked why the people are so corrupted in the state, particularly in Tamenglong district inspite of the kindness showered by the central government.

Further speaking at the function, he stated that there are many loopholes in the implementation of the development funds and added that the contractors are not sincere and are mostly dishonest and they are not maintaining quality in their works.

He further stated that many government officials are able to construct huge buildings for themselves whereas the poor people have no place to even complain.

In his speech as guest of honour, Dr Gaithaorung Kamei, CMO Tamenglong thanked all participants for attending till the end of the Public Information campaign. If people are not aware of the development funds provided by the government, people will be lost, it is the need of the hour to joined hands with the various government department to change the district, he added.

In his presidential speech I D Akubou, Retd ZEO believes that after attending the awareness campaign on the various government schemes, the people could ensure that all the development funds are properly and successfully implemented in the district. He has also appealed to the concerned to organize such public information campaign at the block level for the poor villages.

At the end of the campaign certificates were given to all stalls and volunteers of NYK.

Premlata Loitam, MCO PIB, Imphal thanked all resource persons and participants for the grant success of the Public Information campaign and assured to organized more such campaigns in the near future.

10 Motorable road completed out of 36 under PMGSY
During the final day technical session of Bharat Nirman Campaign held at Tamenglong Indoor Stadium, resource person K. Brajabidhu, executive engineer, Road Task Force-I, PIU while delivering his speech on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) said that, PMGSY was launched in 2000 by the Government of India, aiming to provide road connectivity to unconnected rural areas.

The programme provides connectivity to villages having a population ranges of 250 individuals in the hilly areas, and 500 and above in urban/plain areas in the North Eastern region of the country, he added.

He further stated that under the scheme 36 works (motorable road) have been taken up covering four blocks of the district, Tamenglong, Tousem, Tamei and Nungba, out of which 10 motorable roads have been completed while the remaining 26 will be completed by August this year.

He further said that, PMGSY has brought economic developments to the people of Tamenglong District by way of transporting their agricultural products, farm products and natural resources from their villages to the commercial units. But with the unstable law and order situation in Manipur and with the unceasing monsoon seasons in Tamenglong District, the work executing agency faced problems to complete the work in time, the Engineer added.
