State government readies itself with new project proposals for NEC meeting

IMPHAL,June 13: The state government has completed its preparation to present a comprehensive new proposals of different sectors during the two days meeting of the 60th North East Council meeting which is supposed to be held from June 16 at New Delhi.

The state will be represented by the state Chief Minister, Governor and the chief secretary at the meeting, wherein various topics for all round development of the region including power, education, science and technology, railways, air connectivity, innovation for the North Eastern States, Agriculture, Sports etc will be discussed.

According to an official source, under strong direction from the state government, the state planning department in collaboration with various concerned departmental heads has completed the necessary preparations of new project proposals for the state, to be taken up during the meeting.

As per the officially prepared project proposals the state representatives led by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Governor Gurbachan Jagat and chief secretary DS Poonia will table the proposal for setting up of Livestock Feed Plan of 100 tones at Thoubal district with an estimated cost of Rs. 4.95 crores, and adoption of a village for Milch cow rearing with an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crores under Agriculture and allied sector.

According to the source, the state government as per the new proposal of projects for Society (forwarded by Co-operative department) will take up the proposal of cattle rearing with Dairy products schemes at B Salvaphai village in Churachandpur, pisciculture development project for inland fisheries at S Haijang village, Churachandpur, reviving of water harvesting scheme under Horticulture department, diversifiocation of Agronomical Crops Double Cropping in Manipur under Agriculture department.

It is also mentioned that, the state government will table the proposal of scheme on development of Naga Nullah Drainage system, Waisel drainage scheme, Imphal East, Anti-erosion scheme of Tuilok river, anti-erosion flood control scheme on Ichai River from Ichai Lamlan village to Saikul village under Irrigation and Flood Control and Watershed Management in the state.

The official source further mentioned that the new proposals to be tabled at the meeting will also include flood control scheme of Sajirok River, concept plan on flood control scheme of Imphal River, Kongba River, Iril River, Turel Ahanbi diversion channel Atoukhong drainage system of Imphal River basin, concept plan on flood control scheme of Nongdam River, Wangjing River at Heirok, Manipur River, Hiyanglam and Manipur River at Sugunu.

Further the project of water supply including storm water harvesting arrangements for Waithou Water supply scheme, water supply scheme for JNV, Tuinon at Churachandpur, additional components of treatment plant and intake arrangement at Waithou, conservation of catchments area and deepening of Waithou pat impounding reservoir, construction of high canal for rain water harvesting, cross drainage, RCC culverts for Waithou and pipe distribution for local inhabitants, composite water supply scheme for Makhao, Mualnuam and Songtal area and water supply scheme in government Polytechnic campus, Takyelpat.

Further the composite compilation of the project proposals of the state government in the said meeting also includes constructions of concrete dam across Heibirok River at Sangaithel in Imphal West, construction of pick up weir across Lanva River at Ngathel in Churachandpur district and Ihang River at Sanakeithel in Ukhrul district under Minor Irrigation.

The proposal for construction of 2X5 MVA 33/11KV Sub-station along with associated 33 KV line at power house site Loktak Downstream Hydro Electric project will also be made under power sector.

The state government will also seek a few more new projects under the power sector including state Load Despatch Centre (SLDC), installation of 2X12.5 MVA, 132/33 KV sub-station along with associated line at Moreh, construction of 132 KV D/C line from Loktak Down Stream to 132/33 KV sub-station at Rengpang, re-conductoring of Yaingangpokpi to Kakching via Kongba, Ningthoukhong to Kakching via Churachandpur, Survey and investigation of Maklang Tuyungbi (45 MW)) HE Project Manipur, survey and investigation of Nungleiband (70MW) HE project and Pabram (190 MW) HE project Manipur.

As per the source the state government will be tabling two more new projects including installation of 10 numbers of 25 KW Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) power plants and installation of solar Water Heaters for 3340 numbers in the state under MANIREDA.

Above this, the state government will also put their official project proposals for the state under the state commerce and industries, Tourism department, Transport and Communication, adequate maintenance of infrastructures for the state health services and most importantly on the development of Human Resource development by seeking new projects including infrastructure upgradation of Churachandpur college and DM college of Science Imphal and also for the new received projects under the development of scheduled Tribes in terms of educations in the state during the said two days NEC meeting the official source added.
