ACI readies to enlighten Mao

IMPHAL, July 23: Asufii Christian Institute, Punanamei of Mao, has officially announced its affiliation to the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) and Manipur University (MU) for under-graduate and graduate courses at a ceremony held at its Chapel Hall today.

The institute was established with the promises of developing Mao an ideal place for academics and bringing overall development of the state through quality education.

Function was attended by Prof. W. Naba Kumar Dean of School of Humanities & Environment Science as chief guest, and S. Geeta Devi Chairperson COSEM as guest of honour and other officials of MU and CHOSEM. 

Speaking at the function, L. Dikho, who is the chairman of the managing committee of the institute, stated that peace, development and integrity can be brought through quality education. He added that the institute will prove that Mao is not a hostile place as many people assume but an environment that promotes education. Prof. W Naba Kumar also expressed his gratitude to Dikho for his initiatives in the establishment of the institute. While speaking during the function, he stated that education is the backbone of a responsible and productive society. He further stressed that human resources can only be developed by providing quality education and for economic development human resource development is imperative. Prof. N Joykumar, MU history department, who was among the special guests, has speculated that the ACI has the potential to become a very popular educational institute of Manipur. S Geeta, chairperson COSEM, spelt out the functioning system of COSEM, adding that the council has now actively considering introducing mark grading system.

While interacting with IFP, one of the teachers of ACI said that even though the institute was established in previous July, the strength of students has reached nearly 300 and the numbers are expected to rise quickly. He also stated that among the teaching staffs there are many well-experienced and NET qualified persons. 

Dikho told IFP that currently boarding facility is also available for boys and girls students separately. He also added that the immediate focus of the institute is to introduce professional courses soon.

ACI, which is located in the fringes of Manipur with just one village away from Nagaland border, is the second college offering higher secondary and graduation course in the area after Tadubi Hill College.
